About Babl-On Threads
The Gateway to Modern Identity
My journey began in the halls of UWI Mona in 2011. While pursuing a degree in History, I found a digital sanctuary in Adobe Photoshop – an artistic outlet that sparked a dream of entrepreneurship. Inspired by the classic, effortless style of brands like Aeropostale and Gap, I envisioned a line of customized apparel that combined my love for design with a desire for independence.
Life, however, had other plans. For years, that dream remained dormant as I embraced the beautiful, demanding roles of motherhood and family life. But a spark never truly fades. Encouraged by my sister and fueled by the lessons of my heritage – spanning Christian and Rastafarian beliefs – I decided to revive that original vision.
Babl-On Threads is the result of that rebirth. It is a brand built on the right to express a unique way of thinking, created for those who see art not just as a decoration, but as a language.
Our Philosophy: The Beauty of the "Babble"
The name Babl-On Threads draws its power from a rich tapestry of historical and linguistic symbolism. While the word "babble" originated in the 13th century to describe the indistinct chatter of a child, we look further back to its roots.
The Gate of God: Historically, the name Bābilim (Babylon) translates to the "Gate of God." We reimagine this as a threshold for self-expression, where every garment serves as a bridge between your inner essence and your outward aesthetic.
A Universal Language: Rather than viewing the biblical "Babble" as a symbol of confusion, we embrace it as the foundational moment of cultural diversity. We believe fashion is a universal language spoken through a thousand unique "dialects" of style.
Woven Narratives: Every piece we create utilizes the timeless metaphor of weaving. We treat our garments as the literal strings that bind different cultures, eras, and personal identities into a single, wearable "text."
When you wear Babl-On Threads, you aren’t just blending in. You are speaking a language of style that everyone understands, but few can replicate.
